Colin Brazier - Sky News
Kay Burley - Sky News

The key information about sky news is that it's a 24 hour broadcasting news channel. It is on 7 days a week 24 hours a day. This is one of the reasons why sky news is popular.
many awards from the Royal Television Society the latest being 'News Channel of the Year' which was awarded in 2011

BAFTA award for their coverage on the attacks on 11 September 2001 .
Sky News UK is a 24-hour, multi-media news operation based in Britain. It provides non-stop rolling news on television, online, and on a range of mobile devices – as well as delivering a service of national and international radio news to commercial radio stations in the UK. The news service places emphasis on rolling news, including the latest breaking news. Having launched as a 24-hour television news channel in 1989, Sky News has also grown into a digital operation through its website and mobile apps. As well as becoming a content provider for news services in the UK and around the world.

Other Facts:

The title music, was recorded with a 60-piece Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Angel Studios, London and used more than 132 audio channels for the 18 seconds of audio.

The channel regularly focuses on some current affairs, some carry on for several days which allows for a more in-depth analysis and debate of the topic.

Sky have increased interactivity with their audience by launching a growing selection of news blogs which are written by their staff and guests.

Target audience.
I think that the target audience is 12+ because it's a 24 hour running news channel and most children under the age of 12 will not be able to check the news at such hours around 3am. Also some people will not understand some vocabulary used in sky news as its language is based around young and old adults. Also sky nesw is online soevery story is covered and can be viewed anywhere at any time. This appeals to the younger audience.

Viewing order
I think the viewing order is like this because it starts with the latest of worldwide news stories and starts to develop in to the stories in Britain. Then go to politics and government. To make some news stories less gloomy there is usually some sports news and also a funny piece of use where the reporters will say it with a smile on their face. I have added links in some headlines to show that in fact they are online and how its easy to find out the news online.

  1. WWW: This is an excellent project - Sky News is a good choice and you've found plenty of information about the channel. You've clearly listed the stories on three separate days and thought about the order they appeared in.
EBI: The area to improve would be target audience. You need to think more about who watches Sky News - male/female? Educated? We'll be covering this in class but it's certainly something to consider for future work.
LR: Do you regularly watch the programme you researched? Why/why not? Where do you get your news from? Answer in a comment below.

  2. LR: No I do not regularly watch sky news
This is because I find the news boring and I don't like waiting for the news I want to hear. Instead I go online and find the headlines which appeal to me only. Plus its much easier to go online any time and anywhere you want.
